How do I make a PDF file smaller?

What is the difference between Basic, Balanced and Strong?
Basic uses lossless optimization without reducing image resolution. Balanced keeps higher image quality for reading on screen. Strong reduces image resolution further to prioritize file size. Balanced is the default.
Can I compress a PDF without losing image quality?
Choose Basic for lossless compression. Already optimized PDFs may show little reduction, so a particular file size is not guaranteed. Balanced and Strong can reduce image detail to save more space.
Why is my compressed PDF not much smaller?
Text-heavy PDFs and files that are already compressed often have less room for improvement than large image-based documents. The estimate is a guide rather than a promised output size.
Does compression delete PDF pages?
