Redact PDF Online: common questions
Can I select more than one redaction category?
Yes. In Find sensitive information mode, combine personal, financial, health, legal and confidential categories. At least one category must be selected.
Can I redact a specific name, email or reference number?
Yes. Choose Specific text to redact and enter the exact word or phrase. Add each rule on a new line. This mode uses only those text rules rather than automatic categories.
Can I draw redaction boxes on the PDF?
No. This workspace offers category detection and exact-text rules. It does not include a manual drawing or page-markup editor.
Will automatic redaction find all sensitive information?
No automatic detector should be assumed to find everything. Review the completed document for missed details and incorrect matches, especially before sharing personal, financial or health information.
Is redaction the same as adding a black rectangle?
A visual overlay can leave underlying information available. The redaction service is intended to remove matched content, not just conceal its appearance. Check the downloaded result and keep the unredacted source securely.
