What does OCR do to a PDF?
OCR recognizes words in page images and adds a text layer. The result is still a PDF, with searchable and selectable text. It does not turn the document into a page-layout editor or a Word file.
Which OCR languages can I choose?
The dropdown contains 27 supported languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Japanese and Simplified or Traditional Chinese. Select the language that matches the printed text.
Does this OCR tool detect the language automatically?
No. Choose the document language before continuing. The tool can determine which pages need OCR, but that is different from automatically detecting the language.
Can OCR read handwriting or blurred scans?
Recognition is most dependable on clear printed text. Handwriting, blur, skewed pages and small print can produce mistakes. Check the downloaded text, especially identifiers, dates and amounts.
Will OCR keep my scanned pages visible?
Yes. OCR adds recognized text while preserving the visible scanned page. Keep the original PDF and compare important content in the searchable copy. A selectable text layer can still contain recognition errors.
